Shelby Osborne ’23

Major: Psychology

Outfit: Squadron 20

A member of Squadron 20, Shelby Osborne ’23 currently serves as the outfit’s Athletics Officer.

On the Quad, Shelby is a member of Parsons Mounted Cavalry, where she also serves as the special unit’s Executive Officer.

Off the Quad, Shelby is a student worker with Texas A&M’s Technology Services. In her free time, Shelby enjoys painting, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

“My dad always talked about how important it is to understand differences you can see in a group of people you work with. A thing he often said was, ‘You don’t have to have the best idea in the room, but instead know how to work with those around you to find it.’ This quote got me through a lot in the Corps. Everyone has an idea on how to best solve issues in leadership, so learning to work with my peers to find the best solution has helped me along the way,” Shelby said of her experience with the Corps of Cadets.

After graduation, Shelby plans to attend the University of Texas’ Health and Science School in San Antonio with hopes of one day becoming a nurse.

Cora Schell ’23

Major: Animal Science

Outfit: B-Battery

Cora Schell ’23 is a member of B-Battery in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band.

On the Quad, Cora is involved in Parsons Mounted Cavalry, where she serves as the special unit’s Veterinary Officer. Cora represented Parsons Mounted Cavalry, the Corps of Cadets and Texas A&M in a color guard unit during the grand entry of the San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo this spring.

Off the Quad, Cora has been a member of the animal welfare judging team since her freshman year. Cora also assists with research in the Animal Science department, where she helps train dogs to detect disease in cattle. In addition to her research, Cora works part-time at Steep Hollow Pet Lodge.

After graduation, Cora plans to attend graduate school, where she hopes to obtain her master’s. After receiving her master’s, Cora hopes to attend Texas A&M’s Veterinary School.

Katie Humphreys ’23

Major: Political Science

Outfit: Company A-1

Currently a member of Company A-1, Katie Humphreys ‘23 serves as the outfit’s Executive Officer.

On the Quad, Katie is involved in Rudder’s Rangers, where she has been a member since her freshman year. As a sophomore, Katie competed with the Army ROTC’s Ranger Challenge team. Katie is also a member of the O.R. Simpson Honor Society, where she serves as an academic mentor and resource to her peers.

In 2021, Katie attended and graduated from Air Assault school at Fort Campbell, KY. In 2022, she attended and graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Cadet Summer Training, and was ranked within the top 10% in the nation. In addition to her success at Cadet Summer Training, Katie also earned the Magellan Federal Award for scoring the highest in her regiment in the female division of the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT).

After graduation, Katie plans to commission into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant, where she will serve as a Military Intelligence Officer.

William Dean ’23

Major: Architectural Engineering

Outfit: Squadron 21

Currently a member of Squadron 21, William Dean ’23 also serves as the 2022-2023 Commander of the NROTC Midshipmen Battalion.

On the Quad, Will serves as a Ross Volunteer and is a member of the Corps Marathon team.

Off the Quad, Will is a member of the Texas A&M chapter of the Architectural Engineering Institute and the Society of American Military Engineers.

“The Texas A&M Corps of Cadets has provided me countless opportunities that I would not have been able to experience without the program. From going to Boston to compete in the Boston Marathon, to having the privilege to lead over 300 prospective Naval and Marine Corps Officers, the Corps of Cadets has allowed me to heighten my skills and prepare myself for multiple careers in the future,” Will said of his time in the Corps.

After graduating from Texas A&M, Will plans to commission into the United States Navy and either serve as a Naval Aviator or as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer. After his time in the Navy, Will hopes to return to Aggieland to work for the Texas A&M Foundation.

Kendalyn Lytle ’23

Major: Environmental Engineering

Outfit: A-Company

Originally from A-Company in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, Kendalyn Lytle serves as the Infantry Band Commander for the 2022-2023 academic year.

In addition to her role as the Infantry Band Commander, Kendalyn also serves on the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band’s Bugle Rank and as the Executive Officer for the Fish Drill Team.

Off the Quad, Kendalyn enjoys running marathons, baking and Crossfit.

“I’ve gained a lot from my time in the Corps, but the greatest thing that the Corps gave me was my buddy class and the relationships that I have with other Aggie Bandsmen and members of the Fish Drill Team. It was their support and encouragement that helped me make it through both cycles of OCS, and without them I wouldn’t have had the confidence to become the cadet that I am today,” Kendalyn said of her time in the Corps.

After graduating from Texas A&M, Kendalyn plans to commission into the United States Marine Corps, where she hopes to become a fighter pilot. Kendalyn is also looking forward to marrying her high school sweetheart.
