Matthew Thomas ‘18

Matthew Thomas ‘18 is an International Studies major from Weatherford, Texas, and is the son of Mark and Kimberly Thomas. On the quad, Cadet Thomas serves as the Corps Staff Scholastics Officer, but calls Company F-1 home. He is also a member of the O.R. Simpson Honor Society and a former member of the Corps Color Guard. Off the quad, Matthew is a volunteer for the Aggieland Humane Society.

Between his sophomore and junior years, Cadet Thomas spent 10 weeks on a language intensive study abroad trip to St. Petersburg, Russia. “My language skills improved dramatically,” says Thomas. “I learned that I could survive on my own in a foreign country, and adapt to the local culture in order to fit in.” Education is a priority for Matthew and a big part of who he is as a person. He is in the process of completing his bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Modern Languages. Additionally, Cadet Thomas is enrolled in a 5-year joint degree program and will receive his masters in International Affairs from the Bush School of Government and Public Service. He expects to graduate in May of 2019 and hopes to work in the Intelligence Community, Policy Analysis, or the Department of State.

Latham Speasmaker ’18

Latham Speasmaker ’18 is a Chemical Engineering major and is pursuing a certificate in Leadership Studies through the Hollingsworth Leadership Excellence Program. He is from Pearland, TX, and is the eldest son of Chris Speasmaker and Lore Lagrone, as well as the older brother of Caleb Speasmaker.

Latham serves as the Artillery Band Operations/Logistics/Training Officer for the 2017-2018 academic year and is a member of the Artillery Band Staff. Originally a C-Battery Marksman in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, he served as a Fire Team Leader, Guidon Bearer, Assistant Squad Leader, Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant within the unit. In the Band, Latham played the trombone his first three years but is now playing the Bass in the Bass Rank.

On the quad, Latham is an active member of the O.R. Simpson Honor Society. Additionally, he has served as the Aggie Eagle Post Operations Officer and is now the units Executive Officer. Off the quad, Latham is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Latham has also volunteered at local animal shelters, The Museum of the American G.I., and local community homes during his time as a student.

Last summer Latham represented Texas A&M at Tianjin University in Tianjin, China with other Chemical Engineering students from Texas A&M. While there, he learned about Bioreactor Engineering, Process Safety Engineering, and the country’s culture, language, and geopolitical issues. Latham will graduate in May 2018 and plans to work as a process engineer for a chemical company in the Houston area.

Sara E. Wojcak ‘18

Sara E. Wojcak ‘18 is a Non-Profit Business Management major from Mustang, OK. She is the daughter of Michael and Teresa Bailey, and the late Tony Wojcak.

Currently, she holds the position of Deputy Corps Commander. During her time in the Corps, Sara served as a Squadron 11 Fire Team Leader as a sophomore and the 1st Wing Sergeant Major during her junior year. Sara is also an active member of the Ross Volunteer Company in the Squat Platoon.

Off the quad, she has participated in various mission trips to Nicaragua, South Africa, Brazil, and Guatemala and is also a
2017 Houston Marathon Finisher. Sara is a member of the Texas A&M Foundation Maroon Coats and serves as the Awareness Coordinator on the Aggie Muster Committee. She says serving on the Muster Committee has been the highlight of her time at Texas A&M.

“I have gained a better understanding of what it meant to be an Aggie,” Wojcak elaborates. “I got the opportunity to read about and meet Aggies who have come before me who have helped create our legacy.”

Sara had the opportunity to go on the 2017 Corps excursion to China where she was able to learn about diplomacy, information, military, economics and cultural ties between our two countries. During the trip, she visited the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, and visited the rural city of Qingdao.
Upon graduation, Wojcak plans to commission into the United States Air Force and serve as a logistics officer. After her stint in the Air Force, she desires to work for a non-profit organization that does mission work overseas.

Robert “Bobby” Ramirez ’18

Robert “Bobby” Ramirez ’18 is a Political Science major with a minor in Communications from Floresville, Texas. He is the son of Colonel Robert G. Ramirez, USAF and Jannette Ramirez.

Bobby is originally from Squadron 2 where he served as a Gator 2 Fire Team Leader, Public Relations Corporal, and Recruiting Corporal. He is also a member of the Darling Recruiting Company. Bobby currently serves as the 1st Wing Staff Public Relations/Recruiting Sergeant.

Bobby is also involved in the O.R. Simpson Honor Society, the Corps Lacrosse Team, and was a Nichols’ Rising Leadership Conference Delegate in 2016. Off the quad, he is the Assistant Executive Director of Class Councils, an organization that plans and upholds Aggie Traditions.

Bobby is on an Air Force Contract, and is an Air Force Field Training Distinguished Graduate. He will graduate and commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in May of 2018. His goal is to train as a Combat Systems or Intelligence Officer. Bobby is a superb cadet who will go on to great success as an Air Force officer. He truly is one of our very best, and will make all of us extremely proud in whatever he does in the future. I am very proud of Bobby and wish him the very best in all of his future endeavors.

Travis Stebbins ’18

Travis Stebbins ’18 is a Visualization and Computer Science double major from College Station, Texas, and is currently serving as the Third Regiment Sergeant Major. He is the son of Colonel Byron ‘78 and Ann Stebbins.

Originally a member of Company N-1, Travis was a member of the Fish Drill Team, and served as an advisor his sophomore year. He also served as guidon bearer for Company N-1 his sophomore year, and is a member of the O.R. Simpson Honor Society. Travis participated in the Corps of Cadets International Excursion to Japan in May of 2016.

Travis is also active off the quad. He served as a counselor for an Impact Retreat during the summer of 2015. He is a member of TAMU ACM SIGGRAPH, an organization for students and professionals in the computer graphics industry. Travis is also a member of The PB&J Project, an organization that sells sandwiches on campus every Wednesday, and donates all proceeds to Kenya Kids Can.

After graduation Travis plans to attend graduate school to study Visualization or Computer Science, or to find a job working in the animation, video game design, or computer graphics industry.
