Back

Annaliese Olbrich ‘21 is an Environmental Geosciences major, minoring in Geology and Oceanography, from China Spring, Texas. She is the daughter of Col. Grant Olbrich ’85, USMC  (N-1) and Mrs. Cindy Olbrich ’87.

Annaliese serves as the Recruiting Officer for C-Battery in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band and has enjoyed playing the trumpet for the past 4 years. Annaliese also serves as the Executive Officer for Valor, an on-campus Ministry.

“It is incredible for me to see Christ be honored by such amazing young adults that strive to maintain the campus of Texas A&M as a place of honor, integrity, self-discipline, leadership, respect, and selfless service, and for them to keep A&M in these identifying features in the name of God,” she said.

Off the Quad, Annaliese participates in the Undergraduate Recruitment Team (URT) for the College of Geosciences, helping high school students learn about Geosciences and the opportunities available for them. For the past 3 summers, Annaliese has been a counselor for GeoX, the College of Geosciences’ week-long recruitment camp for high school juniors and seniors. She is also a member of the Geosciences Student Council, which works to improve relations between Geosciences students and faculty. Additionally, she has enjoyed working as a student employee at A&M’s Geochemical and Environmental Research Group facility. In the summer of 2020, Annaliese worked with Dr. Yina Liu and Dr. Michael Shields in researching the level of Perfluoro-alkyl substances in milk products.

Upon graduation in May of 2021, Annaliese plans to attend a year-long internship with Cru Ministries in Lima, Peru, ministering to college students in the metropolitan center of Lima. Following her internship, she hopes to pursue a career fighting for the rights of indigenous and impoverished communities to have access to potable water. She developed a passion for such a cause after a study abroad experience in Peru in 2019. However, Annaliese trusts that the Lord will lead her wherever He will have her.

“I have loved my time in the Corps; I am incredibly grateful for the experiences, challenges, and memories that the Corps has given me that have helped shape me into a better woman, a better Aggie, and a better Christian,” she said.

We are proud of Annaliese and the success she has already had on and off the Quad during her time at Texas A&M. We know she will continue to do extremely well in all that she does in service to others in the future. Gig ‘em and God Bless, Annaliese!

Michael Badzey ‘21

Back

Michael Badzey ‘21 is a Chemistry major minoring in Philosophy and STEM Education. He is from Huntington Beach, CA and is the son of Siobhan and Peter Badzey.

Michael is the Commander of Company P-2 (Trident Company) in First Regiment. As the commander of a Navy/Marine outfit, he is responsible for the vision and mission of the outfit as well as the success of every Trident cadet. Michael is also a member of the Ross Volunteer Company. Off the Quad, he spends a lot of his time at St. Mary’s Catholic Center and helps run its ministry on the Quad where he reaches out to Catholic cadets. Michael is also pursuing a teaching credential for grades 7-12 Physical Science with aggieTEACH – a program which provides science majors a path to teaching.

While Michael’s senior year has looked different than he expected, he has grown to appreciate the time of uncertainty he’s faced as a leader within the Corps. “I am humbled to realize that there is an entire outfit of real people – with our world turned upside down – who are looking to me for direction, security, and hope. That’s a realization few other Corps classes have ever experienced,” he said.

Upon graduation in May 2021, Michael hopes to pursue a master’s degree through the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education program. We are proud of Michael and are confident in his future success! We wish him the best of luck in all of his future endeavors!
