A first-generation college student, Caitlin TramAnh “Tommy” Vu ’19, is an Agriculture Communications & Journalism major who is pursuing a certification in Communication Leadership & Conflict Management. She is the daughter of Tram Vivan Vu and calls Houston her home.

Tommy’s home outfit is Squadron 12 and she is currently serving on Corps Staff as the Career Readiness Sergeant. Her sophomore year, Tommy held the position of SQ-12 Career Readiness Corporal, Fire Team leader and Public Relations Corporal/Sergeant. Tommy is also a former delegate to the Nichols Rising Leaders Conference and attended the 2017 Corps Excursion to Panama/Costa Rica.

Tommy is an active member of C.A.D.E.T. (Cultural Awareness & Diversity Expansion Team). C.A.D.E.T. is a special unit in the Corps that focuses on cultural awareness and diversity. Tommy served as the C.A.D.E.T. marketing officer and served on the planning committee for the Intentional Leadership Conference her sophomore year. Currently, Tommy is the C.A.D.E.T. Executive Officer. She also serves as the Intentional Leadership Conference’s Vice-Chair.

Off the Quad, Tommy has participated in the InterAmerican Regional Scout Conference, Aggies Invent—the 3 Day Startup program, Raymond Idea Challenge, the 2017 MSC Fall Leadership Conference, Maroon & White Leadership Fellows, and BizVenture. Tommy is also a current Aggie Research Scholar on anti-racism curriculum.

“The corps has been an incredible challenge,” Tommy said. “But I’ve finally found my purpose and place, and it’s made all the difference. I’m really motivated and grateful to be in the position where I am able to share my experiences and help every cadet improve their career management skills.”

Tommy’s goal is to work for a non-profit organization or company whose values align with her own. Between her work ethic, values, and winning personality, Tommy is set to accomplish anything she puts her mind to. I look forward to seeing how far her drive will take her, best of luck, Tommy. Make us proud!
