Required Elements for Hollingworth Certificate in Applied Ethical Leadership
Texas A&M University and the Hollingsworth Center for Ethical Leadership is honored to be the only university and leadership center partnered with the Medal of Honor Griffin Institute, of the Medal of Honor Museum. Our leadership certificate is endorsed by the Medal of Honor Institute. To earn this distinction the student must complete requirements in 3 areas: (1) Academic Course Completion; (2) Applied Experiences; and (3) Personal Development. These requirements are outlined below.
Academic Course Completion
- SOMS 281
- SOMS 380
- SOMS 381
- SOMS 481
- SOMS 482
Note 1:
The above courses are required to be completed (with a grade of A or B) in order to receive the Certificate.
Note 2:
Applicant should have a cumulative GPR of 2.5 or higher and completed a minimum 60 hours (30 at Texas A&M)
**The HCEL Director may waive any of these requirements if appropriate on a case-by-case basis
Applied Experiences
Complete the Applied Experiences Worksheet
Document and connect Corps and community experiences to leadership principles.
(Specific guidance will be provided separately by HCEL)
Personal Development
The following elements are required:
- Mentor exit interview (specific guidance will be provided separately by HCEL)
- Completion of at least two semesters of an Individual Leadership Development Plan (ILDP) (this is normally completed within the normal SOMS coursework)
- Medal of Honor Reflection (specific guidance will be provided separately by HCEL)
