Nicolas Navarro ’19

Cadet Nicolas “Nico” Navarro ’19 is a mathematics major from Tomball, Texas. He is the son of Joe and Kim Navarro, and the middle child of three.  Nico is a third generation Aggie, with his fish sister following in his footsteps.

“My involvement in the Corps has been a gateway to a vast array of unique experiences, along with my involvement in the nation’s best Detachment for an Air Force ROTC program,” Nico said. “I’m eternally grateful for my mother always encouraging me to keep my faith and guiding me toward a great future.”

As a freshman, Cadet Navarro was a member of the Texas A&M Galveston Maritime Academy.  During his year there he held the position of outfit Guidon Bearer and was a member of the Fish Drill Team at TAMUG.  After transferring to TAMU’s Corps of Cadets his sophomore year, Navarro was an Inspector General Corporal for his outfit, Squadron 6.  He was a Training Sergeant, a Platoon Sergeant, and a Squad Leader during his junior year.   As a senior, Nico is Squadron 6’s Training Officer. Cadet Navarro is also a member of the Arnold Air Society and is also Detachment 805’s Honor Guard Executive Officer.

Cadet Navarro graduated from Air Force Field Training in the summer of 2017. He currently serves as the AFROTC Detachment 805’s Squadron Commander. Cadet Navarro graduates in May of 2019 and will commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. “My goal,” Navarro says, “is to become a C-130 Pilot and serve our Country to the best of my abilities, and hopefully continue my career as a Pilot for Federal Express, and then give back to my community by influencing young people as a high school JROTC educator.”

Navarro is an outstanding cadet, a young man of exceptional character, and I have great confidence in his abilities. Nicolas is a leader who knows what it means to “lead by example,” and also exemplifies our Corps values of Integrity, Honor, Courage, Discipline, and Selfless Service in all that he does.  He is following a family tradition of military service, and I have every confidence that he is going to be a superb Air Force Officer and will lead his airmen well. We are all very proud of Nicolas Navarro and wish him well in all of his future endeavors!
