Back

Claritza Martinez ‘19 is a Kinesiology major originally from Zacatecas, Mexico but she calls Dallas, Texas her hometown. Claritza is the daughter of Jose Martinez and Martha Varela.

Claritza is a member of Squadron 2 and is also a member of the Ross Volunteer Company. She has previously served as the Fire Team Leader and Platoon Sergeant, but currently serves as the unit’s Executive Officer.

As a first-generation college student, Claritza has made a positive impact while creating her path at Texas A&M University and within the community. She has coached basketball for the Aggieland Panthers, and works with the Master’s Program in the Marketing Department as well as in Ash II Leadership Learning Center. Claritza not only has a heart for the Corps, but also for the community that surrounds campus.  She spends her extra time tutoring elementary and high school students in Bryan and College Station school districts.  Her passion doesn’t end there. Claritza’s focus and passion is to learn about adapted physical activity to help people with impairments, and meets and works with programs such as Special Olympics, Brookwood Community and Camp for All.

“At Texas A&M and especially with the Corps of Cadets I found a great home and family,” Claritza said. “I would say that the best way to describe the past years as a member of the Corps of Cadets is very challenging, but extremely rewarding. I have met exemplary individuals who have impacted my life in different ways, and I will always be thankful for them.”

Claritza will graduate December of 2019 to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. As a first-generation student, she knew she’d face difficulties but has persevered through it all while succeeding along the way. Claritza is a remarkable young woman with a bright future ahead of her. We are proud of her accomplishments and know she will succeed in the future!
