Charles Todd entered the A&M College of Texas in 1893, rising to the rank of Cadet Corps Commander and class valedictorian. Todd gave the keynote address at the funeral of former Governor and Texas A&M President Lawrence Sullivan “Sul” Ross, and was assigned to lead the governor’s detachment of cadets and honor guard. He was the first regular Army officer commissioned directly from A&M College. Following World War I, he served as the Corps Commandant from 1923-25 and remained in the inactive Army Reserve as a colonel and returned to Bryan, TX, to practice law.
