Audrey (Rose) Rodriguez ‘20

July 23, 2021 by amy.thompson

Back

Audrey Rodriguez ‘20, known by her peers as “Rose,” is a double major in Political Science and English from Corsicana, TX. She is the daughter of Sarah Cantu and the late Rodolfo “Rudy” Rodriguez. Her adoptive parents are Debra Cantu and Alfredo “Freddy” Garcia.

After participating in a Junior ROTC cadet program in high school, she became interested in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and was soon accepted to A&M. Her home outfit is Squadron One,  but this year she is serving as 2nd Wing’s Public Relations and Recruiting Officer.

Off the Quad, Rose is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an English Honor Society and is President of the Creative Writing Techniques Club. While juggling her academics, Corps duties, and other obligations, she works part-time at HEB and has been a proud partner of the company since 2017. She is also serving a year-long internship with the Texas A&M English Department during her senior year. In the summer of 2019, she had the opportunity to study abroad in Japan to further her knowledge of the language and culture.

Rose will graduate in May 2020 and plans to take a gap year to decide her career path. In the meantime, she will stay employed with HEB while she decides her future and takes this time to nurture her love for creative writing. She is considering opportunities in the future that include applying for an internship in Japan to teach English, applying to a company that would place her in a low-income community where she can teach children, furthering her education by attending graduate school, or even applying to work in government service.

“The Corps not only gifted me with confidence and other skills, but also gave me a wonderful, supportive group of people that I am proud to call my buddies,” said Rose. We are proud of her and wish her the very best in her future endeavors. Best of luck and best wishes to Rose!
