The Honorable Samuel L. “Loyd” Neal, Jr. ’59

Honorable Samuel L. “Loyd” Neal, Jr. ’59 graduated from Texas A&M with his B.B.A. in Marketing and received his M.B.A. in Business Administration from Texas A&I University in 1973. He was in C-Infantry, a Distinguished Student, Distinguished Military Student, and a Distinguished Military Graduate. Neal retired as a Colonel in 1989 after 30 years of active and reserve service in the U.S. Army. He served as Partner and President of W. L. Dinn & Company, Inc. and then President and Chairman of Hilb, Rogal, & Hobbs after they merged with Dinn & Company. Neal then became Executive Vice President of HRH of Texas. Neal is currently serving in his third term as Nueces County Judge and was mayor of Corpus Christi from 1997-2005. He is the only person and only Aggie elected to both of these offices. Neal was on the Board of Directors for Driscoll Children’s Hospital for 18 years and chairman for the last five years. He is a Texas A&M Distinguished Alumnus and a longtime member of the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association.
