Residence Life Move Out Guidance
Today, the Department of Residence Life issued guidance to students living on campus concerning move-out guidance at the end of the semester. The full message sent to students as well as additional information on move-out options can be viewed here. Cadets also received an email from Mr. Will Schrank on April 23 with extended guidance for Corps dorms. However, we want to share with you a few key points of that guidance.
First, the deadline for move out completion of on campus housing (end of the contract term) is May 9th. Whether you are currently residing on campus or have belongings on campus, you must be completely moved out of your dorm room by May 9th. Due to a later Final Exam schedule, Blinn students have until May 15th to completely clear their dorm room.
Second, Residence Life has asked students to inform them about their move-out intentions by visiting this link:https://oncampusaggies.tamu.edu/StarRezPortalX and completing the form named “May 2020 Move-Out”. Students will have 6 move-out options from which to choose. Options available to students range from students moving their belongings out themselves; having a friend or relative move their belongings for them; hiring a moving company to pack, move, and store their belongings for them; or allowing Residence Life to take ownership of the belongings to either dispose of or donate to local charities. For cadets who must continue to reside on campus after the end of their contract term, a cost effective summer housing option is available through Residence Life at the west campus White Creek Apartments. Detailed information about each option can be found at the above link. This form must be completed byMay 7th. If you fail to submit this form and your belongings are still in your spring assignment dorm room at the end of your contract term, the Department of Residence Life will treat your belongings as abandoned property. Any Corps uniforms left in rooms of “abandoned property” will be inventoried and collected by the UDC, and any missing items will be charged to the cadet. Questions or concerns can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Third, Uniform Distribution Center (UDC) personnel will collect, inventory, and store non-expendable uniforms of cadets contracting with a commercial moving company for packing and storage of their belongings. UDC will NOT collect or store expendable items (headgear, footgear, ACUs, etc.) The UDC will be open Monday-Friday beginning April 27 from 7:45am to 4:00pm for uniform turn in. As a reminder, junior and senior cadets and those not returning to the Corps are required to turn in their uniforms before May 6. Questions regarding uniform turn in can be directed to the UDC by calling 979-845-2528. Additional details regarding uniform turn-in are available here.
