From Dr. Anne Reber, Dean of Student Life

Howdy,

As we find ourselves starting a new academic year unlike any previous year, Texas A&M University is committed to the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and entire campus community. As part of that commitment, all students, regardless of where you are taking classes, are required to complete the COVID-19 Training and Certification no later than Aug. 11, 2020. If you are returning to campus before Aug. 11, you must complete the training prior to arriving on campus. This training is in your Howdy portal and a pop up box will appear when you log in to remind you to complete the training. The training will take 15-20 minutes to complete and at the end you will complete a self-certification stating you understand the requirements for returning to campus related to COVID-19. If you have not completed the training by Aug. 11, you will not be able to access anything in the Howdy portal. Once you complete the training you will immediately gain access to the Howdy portal again. This training will need to be completed again in January 2021 and you will receive a notification when the spring semester training is available.

All campus employees are required to complete a similar training, so if you are employed by the university you will take both the student training in Howdy as well as the employee training in TrainTraq.

In addition to the required training, you are encouraged to create an individual plan before you return to campus that can help protect your health and the health of other Aggies in the event of an outbreak of COVID-19 in our community.  The COVID-19 Guide for Students Returning to Campus will help you and your family prepare and plan. When you are in Howdy, you may also see a pop up requesting your zip code; please complete this information as well.

A resource list of helpful campus services can be found in Howdy under the Student Life tab. The training as well as the planning guide will be housed there and you are welcome to access these resources at any time. All campus information related to COVID-19 can be found on the COVID-19 guidance website or on the Texas A&M homepage.

If you have any questions related to the training, please contact the Offices of the Dean of Student Life atstudentlife@tamu.edu. For technical assistance with the training contact the HelpDesk at helpdesk@tamu.edu or call 979-845-8300.

It will take all of us abiding by our core values, but particularly the values of selfless service and respect, to do our part to keep our fellow Aggie community members healthy and safe. Wishing you a wonderful semester.

Sincerely,

Anne Reber, Ph.D. | Dean of Student Life
