Victoria (Lauren) Riback ’17 from Redmond, Oregon, is an Agricultural Science major with a minor in Agronomy. She is the daughter of René Riback, also of Redmond, Oregon. Lauren commits the majority of her time between classes to Parsons Mounted Cavalry as their First Sergeant. While originally from Squadron 6, she is currently a proud member of Squadron 1 serving as their Public Relations Officer.

Off the Quad, Lauren supports the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences annual “Beat the Heck out Blankies” Drive that provides hand-made blankets used by Project Linus to comfort children and youth in crisis. She also supports the international Dress A Girl Around the World organization with hand-made dresses, as well as local breast cancer events in honor of the survival of both grandmothers and great aunt. Lauren has volunteered at numerous on-campus events such as Holiday on the Quad, Aggieland Saturday, Parents Weekend, and has been a member of the ladies Corps basketball team. She recently competed in the Miss Rodeo Austin pageant where she received the People’s Choice Award. She said “this was all due to the Aggie Family,” and the support she received was amazing.

Lauren has spent her summers working full-time as a welder fabricating steel structures, and as an agriculture intern to help pay her way through college. Following student teaching and graduation, she plans to become a high school Agriculture Education teacher and FFA advisor. Her goals are to equip high school students with the knowledge to help produce more food in a changing global environment, and how to be competitive in the global market place. Lauren has dedicated her years at TAMU to making us all proud. I know she will continue to succeed, best of luck to you, Lauren!
