What is JCAP?

The Junior Cadet Accessions Program (JCAP) offers high school juniors and seniors who are involved in Junior ROTC, Civil Air Patrol, Young Marines and Sea Cadets a first-hand experience with the Corps of Cadets. While at JCAP, cadets will:

  • Meet current cadets and learn about their experiences in the Corps
  • Stay in the Corps dorms on campus and meet JROTC/CAP/Young Marine/Sea Cadets in the Corps and from other high schools
  • Learn about the university admissions process, financial aid, scholarships and academic support
  • Train with our national drill champions, the Fish Drill Team in the fall and watch their performance in the spring.
  • In the Fall, march in to Kyle Field with the Corps before a football game
  • Attend a football game in the fall (subject to game time and ticket availability), and attend Aggieland Saturday in the spring.
  • Attend the commandant’s motivational presentation
  • Additional Corps scholarship consideration is given for participants

Dates and Schedule

JCAP is offered once during the fall and spring semesters. Check-in for the JCAP is at the Sanders Corps of Cadets Center from 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. on Friday. The program concludes Saturday at the Corps Center immediately after the football game in the fall, and at noon on Saturday in the spring. A final schedule will be published before the event.

Apply to  JCAP

Academically qualified juniors and seniors can apply online. JCAP costs a non-refundable $25 per student. Your application is not complete until we receive your required forms and payment. Due to a limited number of spots, prompt return of the forms is encouraged.

JCAP participants are responsible for their own transportation to the Sanders Corps of Cadets Center. The nearest airport is the Easterwood Airport in College Station (CLL). Ground Shuttle services (www.groundshuttle.com) provides reliable transportation from both Houston airports Bush (IAH) – 90 miles & Hobby (HOU) – 105 miles and Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) – 105 miles.

Parents are welcome to attend the parent’s informational meeting and the commandant’s presentation, both Friday afternoon. Students will be housed on campus but parents will need to arrange their own accommodations. Hotels in Bryan & College Station may fill up during football weekends, parents should make reservations as soon as possible.
