Evan Flores ‘16 is an International Communications and Media major with an emphasis in Chinese Culture and Language from Austin, Texas. He is the son of Roland Flores and Elena Fascino. Evan is currently serving as the Squadron 1 Executive Officer and Professional Development Officer for the 2015-2016 year.
Active within the Corps, Evan has also served as the Operations Officer for the Nichols Rising Leadership Conference, a conference designed to help sophomores in the Corps with their transition from direct to indirect leaders as juniors. He also received the Distinguished Student Award twice and was inducted into the O.R. Simpson Honor Society as a junior. He will receive his Academic Certificate in Leadership Studies from the Hollingsworth Leadership Excellence Program this spring.
Outside the Corps, Evan has served as the Public Relations Director for the MSC Student Conference on National Affairs (SCONA), and was a reporter for The Battalion, A&M’s student-run newspaper, for a year. Evan also works as a student Assistant Event Coordinator for University Center and Special Events, and is a Public Relations/Social Media Intern for Maroon Weekly, a free publication covering events in the Bryan/College Station Area.
Upon graduation in May 2016, Evan hopes to continue in the field of communications and journalism.
Evan is a talented cadet who has excelled in all of his Corps leadership opportunities. Between his duties as Executive Officer and Professional Development Officer, he has a clear command of what it takes to lead effectively in difficult situations and to guide fellow cadets to success. Evan has worked hard both in the Corps and in student organizations outside of the Corps, and I have every confidence that he will take all that he has learned in those leadership roles into a successful career in communications and journalism. We wish him the very best in all of his future endeavors and know that he will go on to great success.
