Chris Powell ’14

Chris Powell ’14 is a Sociology major from West Point, New York and is the son of Lita and the late Robert Powell ’84, who was also in the Corps of Cadets. Chris will serve as a Senior Yell Leader for the 2013 – 2014 year.

Active within the Corps of Cadets, he is as a member of Company D-2 and the Ross Volunteer Company. Chris served as 2nd Brigade Clerk as a sophomore and 2nd Brigade Sergeant Major as a junior. He was also a delegate at the Nichol’s Leadership Conference in spring 2012.

Outside the Corps, Chris is a member of the Aggie Men’s Club, was a member of the Freshman Leaders in Christ and served on the Executive Staff of the Texas A&M Distinguished Gentlemen’s Club from 2011 – 2012. Chris also served as a delegate for the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference and has been recognized as a Distinguished Student on multiple occasions.

Upon his graduation in May 2014, Chris plans to commission into the United States Army as a second lieutenant. Once he completes his military career, he will pursue a Masters of Business Administration degree.

Chris has been a positive role model to all other cadets during his tenure in the Corps. As one of five cadet Yell Leaders this year, Chris is doing a great job representing the Corps and the University. I have no doubt that Chris will go on to great success as a lieutenant in the US Army, and will continue to lead with pride, integrity, and honor in all that he does. Very proud of Chris and all he does for the Corps and Texas A&M!
