1. If you have been offered admission to Texas A&M
Congratulations! To accept this offer of admission, you will need to register for a New Student Conference (NSC) by the deadline listed on your Office of Admissions letter. You can accept this offer of admission and register for your NSC by going to applicant.tamu.edu. Failure to register for your NSC by closing date will result in cancellation of admission to Texas A&M! Additionally, you will need to submit your housing application and housing deposit. If you have not yet applied for a Corps Scholarship, do so. During your NSC, you will be able to register for classes and officially join the Corps of Cadets. You may have the opportunity to attend Fish Camp if you so desire. Fish Camp registration is available at fishcamp.tamu.edu; attendance is not required but highly encouraged. Freshman Orientation Week (FOW) is mandatory for students intending to participate in the Corps of Cadets. FOW takes place the week prior to the start of the Fall semester.
Welcome to the Aggie Family.
We will see you at your New Student Conference!
2. If you have been offered the Wait List option:
The Wait List option is offered to qualified students who were considered during review but not admitted at that time. Texas A&M will establish a set goal for how many students it will expect as Freshmen in the fall. If after the May 1st commitment deadline, the University has not achieved this goal for the freshman class, the Office of Admissions will fully admit to Texas A&M a select number of additional students who elected to be placed on the Wait List. The process for full admission off of the Wait List is competitive and only information received prior to the January 15 deadline will be considered. Please note that all qualified students offered the Wait List will also be offered the Blinn TEAM option.
If Admitted from Wait List: See #1
If Not Admitted from Wait List: See #3,4,5
3. If you have been offered the Blinn TEAM option:
The Blinn TEAM program is offered to qualified students who were considered during review but not admitted and allows students to be co-enrolled at Texas A&M and Blinn College, Bryan campus. Students are able to be part of the Texas A&M student body, to be members of the Corps of Cadets, and live on campus! You are also eligible to receive Corps of Cadets Scholarships as a Blinn TEAM student. For more details on participating in the Blinn TEAM Program, visit their website at: blinnteam.tamu.edu.
If Admitted to Blinn TEAM: See #1
If Not Admitted to Blinn TEAM: See #4, 5
4. If you have been denied admission to Texas A&M:
You still have options! If your ultimate goal is to be a member of the Aggie Family and the Corps of Cadets, there are still many pathways that lead to Texas A&M. With few exceptions, the best and most efficient route to Texas A&M is through Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) (See #5). If TAMUG is not a possibility, there remain other options. Since the typical Texas A&M student completes his or her studies and graduates in 10 semesters, (i.e. five years), students who have been denied admission should consider transferring to Texas A&M. Transfer admission is not based on your High School credentials, but instead is based solely on your collegiate coursework. After completing a minimum of 24 graded and transferable college level hours at another academic institution and obtaining at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, you will be eligible for transfer consideration to Texas A&M.
Admission decisions for transfer students are made by the individual colleges and departments; some degree plans are more competitive than others. Courses selected, number of hours taken and a credible GPA will enhance your chances to obtain timely transfer admission.
Typically, a Texas A&M transfer student has completed two to four semesters attaining 30-35 credit hours with a 3.25 GPA at the time of the admission decision. Even though a transfer student may be academically classified as an upperclassman, as new cadets, the Corps provides the opportunity for a full or abbreviated freshman experience.
Another option is the Program for System Admissions (PSA). This allows you to attend any TAMU System Institution in residence. To guarantee admission to TAMU-College Station, you must complete a minimum of 24 transferable hours, passing all courses with at least a 3.0 GPA (a grade no lower than a B).
Note, this PSA option is only available through specific degree plans and only applicable for the first year after high school graduation. If you do not meet requirements for a PSA transfer student you may apply as a regular transfer student.
5. If you have been denied admission to Texas A&M University in College Station consideration should be given to attending Texas A&M University at Galveston for one year:
Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) is the only branch campus of the TAMU-College Station campus. Freshman students attending TAMUG will have the opportunity of moving to the TAMU-College Station campus after one year through a Change of Curriculum. The current criterion for this program entails students completing two full semesters (27 credit hours) at Texas A&M Galveston with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. Admissions information for TAMUG can be found at: www.tamug.edu/admrc. With few exceptions, the TAMUG option is the best opportunity for most students who desire to attend Texas A&M and be a fish in the Corps of Cadets one year later. If you wish to begin your military experience as soon as possible, you should consider participating in the Drill & Ceremonies Program at TAMUG. This unique program offers the student participation in the cadet batallion of the TAMUG Texas Maritime Academy and still provides the opportunity to complete a four-year experience at TAMU-College Station as a member of the Corps of Cadets. More information can be found at: www.tamug.edu.
If Not Admitted to Galveston: See #4
6. If you have been offered the summer Aggie Gateway to Success Program:
Congratulations! To accept this offer of admission, you will be required to enroll in summer courses at Texas A&M. In preparing to come to A&M this summer and participate in the Aggie Gateway to Success (AGS) Program, there are some things you should be doing. Read and understand all aspects of the program by visiting gest.tamu.edu/Gateway and respond immediately. Do not wait! General Academics will provide you with a packet of forms to complete which must be submitted back to General Academics in order to confirm you acceptance of this offer. Until all forms are returned, you cannot register for summer courses. During the summer, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Corps Summer Mentorship Program. Its purpose is to mentor participants and monitor your academic progress throughout your summer coursework while affording you an opportunity to establish early-on personal relations within the Corps. You will also have the opportunity to live in the Corps dorms and participate in a structured academic environment, which allows you to develop good study habits and time management skills. If you have not yet applied for a Corps Scholarship, do so. Freshman Orientation Week (FOW) is mandatory for students intending to participate in the Corps of Cadets. FOW takes place prior to the start of the Fall semester.
Welcome to the Aggie Family.
